Privacy policy
This policy explains how Bracken & Vell Publishing Ltd, the publisher of reelroostjollyfd.forum, handles personal data collected through this website. Bracken & Vell Publishing Ltd is the data controller. Postal address: Unit 4, Harrowbeck House, 62 Cromfield Street, Ancoats, Manchester M4 6JQ, United Kingdom. Email: [email protected].
What we collect
We collect two kinds of information. The first is what you send us deliberately: if you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the subject category you select and the content of your message. If you email us directly, we receive whatever is in that message and its headers. The second is technical information generated automatically when a browser requests a page: IP address, user agent string, the page requested, the referring page and a timestamp. This is recorded in server logs by our hosting provider as part of delivering and securing the site.
We do not operate user accounts, we do not run a newsletter, we do not sell anything through this site, and we do not ask for payment information. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the site is not directed at them.
Why we use it, and our legal bases
Contact form and email content is used to answer your message, to follow up on a correction and to keep a record of editorial changes made in response. The legal basis is legitimate interests — running an editorial site and being answerable for what it publishes — and, where you have asked us to do something specific, performance of that request. Server logs are used to keep the site available and to investigate abuse, on the basis of legitimate interests. Non-essential cookies are used only where you have given consent through the banner, and consent is the legal basis for those.
Cookies and similar technologies
Essential storage keeps the site working and records your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear on every page. Non-essential categories — analytics and functional — are set only after you agree through the banner, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time. Categories, purposes and durations are listed in the cookie policy, together with instructions for controlling cookies in your browser.
Processors and third parties
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our instructions: a web hosting and content delivery provider, which processes request logs in order to serve pages, and an email service provider, which processes messages sent to our editorial address. Where a processor is located outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, transfers are made under an appropriate safeguard such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or standard contractual clauses with the required additional measures. We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not disclose it to third parties except where a processor needs it to provide a service to us, or where we are required to do so by law.
Retention
Correspondence is kept for up to 24 months from the last message in the thread, then deleted, unless it records a published correction, in which case we keep a minimal note of the change for accountability. Server logs are retained for a short operational period, ordinarily no more than 90 days, and then rotated out. A stored cookie preference sits in your own browser until it expires or you clear it.
Your rights
If you are in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. If you are in the European Economic Area, the EU GDPR applies. You have the right to be informed, to access a copy of your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability where the processing relies on consent or contract. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA gives you rights to know what personal information is collected and how it is used and disclosed, to request deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that Act.
To exercise any right, write to [email protected] or use the contact form. We respond within one month and will tell you promptly if the request is complex enough to need an extension. We may ask for information that helps us locate your data or confirm the request came from you.
Complaints and changes
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, or to the data protection authority in your country of residence within the European Economic Area. We would prefer the chance to put it right first. Any change to this policy is published on this page and takes effect when posted; material changes will be flagged in the introduction.
