Cookie policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on reelroostjollyfd.forum, published by Bracken & Vell Publishing Ltd. It should be read with the privacy policy, which covers personal data more generally. A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to store; local storage is a related mechanism that keeps a value in the browser without sending it with every request. Both are covered here.

How consent works on this site

Essential storage is set because the site cannot work properly without it, and it does not require your agreement. Everything in the analytics and functional categories is set only after you choose it in the banner. Choosing "Reject Non-Essential" leaves those categories switched off; "Preferences" lets you turn categories on individually and save the result. Your choice is recorded in your browser so the banner does not reappear on every page, and no non-essential storage is written before you have made a choice.

Changing your mind

To change a choice, clear this site's cookies and local storage in your browser and reload a page: the banner will appear again and you can choose differently. If you would prefer us to confirm what is stored against your visit, write to [email protected]. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that already happened.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Every current browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most let you refuse third-party cookies while keeping first-party ones. The controls are usually under settings for privacy, security or site data:

  • Google Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
  • Apple Safari: Settings or Preferences, then Privacy, with per-site data under Manage Website Data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
  • Mobile browsers: the equivalent options sit in the browser's own settings, not in the device settings.

Blocking all cookies will stop this site remembering your cookie choice, so the banner may reappear on each visit. Blocking storage does not otherwise prevent you reading any page here, because none of the content depends on it. Browser private or incognito modes discard storage when the window closes, which has the same effect.

Do Not Track and global privacy signals

There is no settled standard for how sites should respond to Do Not Track headers, so we do not rely on them to determine consent. Because we set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, an opted-out signal and our default state amount to the same thing for that category. If your browser or extension sends a recognised opt-out preference signal, we treat it as a rejection of non-essential storage.

Server logs

Separately from cookies, our hosting provider records standard request logs containing an IP address, a user agent string, the page requested, the referrer and a timestamp. These are used to deliver the site and to investigate faults and abuse, are not used to build a profile of you, and are retained for a short operational period as set out in the privacy policy. They are not affected by your cookie choice, because they are created by the act of requesting a page rather than by storage in your browser.

Updates

If we add, remove or change a category — for example by introducing a different measurement provider — this page is updated first and the banner choice is reset so you can decide again. Questions about anything on this page can go to [email protected] or through the contact form.
